Celebrity Cruises

Modern luxury at scale — from Edge Series flagships to Europe's rivers.

Celebrity occupies a unique position in our collection: a line large enough to offer global deployment and competitive pricing, yet refined enough that the best staterooms — The Retreat — rival dedicated ultra-luxury ships. The Edge Series represents Celebrity's design ambition: the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform that moves between decks, serving as a raw bar at sea level and a dinner venue at deck 14. Infinite Veranda cabins blur the boundary between suite and balcony with floor-to-ceiling glass that opens to the ocean. The newest ship, Celebrity Xcel, debuted in 2024 as the fifth and most advanced Edge Series vessel: 3,260 passengers, 1,640 staterooms, 12 dining venues, 16 bars, and The Bazaar — an open-air marketplace unlike anything else at sea. But the real story for 2027 is rivers. Celebrity is entering the European river cruise market with five new ships — Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker launching in August 2027 on the Danube and Rhine, followed by Celebrity Boundless, Celebrity Roamer, and Celebrity Wanderer in 2028. The river fleet brings Celebrity's design language to a format that has been aesthetically conservative for decades. Children over 4 are welcome, making these the most family-aware river launches in the market.

Where They Sail

Celebrity's deployment is the most comprehensive in our collection. The Mediterranean gets eight ships in summer 2027, sailing from Barcelona, Rome, Athens, and Ravenna. Northern Europe and the fjords draw two ships. The Caribbean is the winter stronghold — nine ships operating from five home ports (Fort Lauderdale, Cape Liberty, Port Everglades, San Juan, and Tampa). Alaska runs three ships May through September. Japan gets two ships (Millennium for dedicated circuits, Solstice for repositioning). Australia and New Zealand welcomes Celebrity Edge for an inaugural Down Under season in 2027-2028. Antarctica (Celebrity Equinox, January-February 2028), Bermuda (Celebrity Silhouette, weekly from Cape Liberty), Canada & New England (Celebrity Silhouette, fall foliage), and the British Isles (Celebrity Eclipse) round out the global footprint. River cruises launch August 2027 on the Danube and Rhine, expanding to Dutch Waterways and additional itineraries in 2028 with five ships total.

Best For

Travelers who want modern design and energy without sacrificing quality. Families — Camp at Sea is genuinely good, and the kids-welcome river launch is a first. The Retreat guests who want ultra-luxury amenities (private restaurant, sundeck, butler service) at a fraction of Silversea or Regent pricing. Design-conscious travelers drawn to the Edge Series aesthetic. Japan enthusiasts — Celebrity Millennium runs the most comprehensive Japan program available. River cruise newcomers who want a contemporary alternative to Viking or AmaWaterways.

Not Ideal For

Travelers seeking an intimate, under-300-guest experience — Celebrity's ocean ships are large by luxury standards. Those who want a fully all-inclusive fare — Celebrity's base price doesn't include premium drinks, Wi-Fi upgrades, or specialty dining (though The Retreat tier changes this). Purists who associate luxury exclusively with small ships.

The Anigra View

Celebrity is the line that makes us rethink what luxury means at scale. The Edge Series ships are architecturally ambitious in ways that smaller luxury lines aren't — the Magic Carpet alone is worth experiencing. But the real recommendation is The Retreat: book a suite-class cabin, and you get a private restaurant (Luminae), a private sundeck with its own pool, butler service, and premium drinks included. It's essentially a ship-within-a-ship, and it competes directly with Silversea and Regent at a lower per-night cost. The 2027 river launch is the other story to watch — Celebrity bringing modern design to European rivers is overdue.
